The Captain's Bed is crafted from solid beech wood, known for its durability and eco-friendliness. The wood is finger-jointed using water-based, non-toxic wood glue, and the drawer bottoms are made from plywood. This solid hardwood bed is free from MDF, engineered wood, particleboard, fiberboard, veneer, and laminate, ensuring a high-quality, sustainable construction.

Is the bed eco-friendly?

Yes, the bed is made from sustainably sourced beech wood and finished with a natural hand-rubbed linseed oil, which is non-toxic and zero-VOC. The wood glue used is also non-toxic, water-based, formaldehyde-free, and safe for both adults and children. Additionally, the bed does not off-gas, so there's no need to air it out, though doing so won’t hurt.

Are there any plastic components or adhesives?

The drawers are equipped with metal glides and small PVC plastic rollers, though future shipments will feature all-metal glides, eliminating the plastic components. All adhesives used in construction are non-toxic, water-based, zero-VOC, and formaldehyde-free.

How much storage space do the drawers provide?

This storage bed features single or double-layer drawers that can be placed on one or both sides. These drawers offer ample space for clothing, bedding, or other items, making the bed a great space-saving solution. The drawers are designed with smooth-gliding metal tracks and PVC rollers, which will be replaced with all-metal glides in future shipments.

Twin sizes ship fully assembled but can also be shipped unassembled in flat boxes if requested at the time of purchase, making it easier to fit through tight spaces. Other sizes, such as Full, Queen, and King, ship assembled in two pieces with connecting hardware included. However, these sizes can also be shipped unassembled in flat boxes if requested, providing flexibility for delivery in spaces with limited access.

Does the bed require a box spring?

No, the bed includes a solid slat system, which provides direct mattress support. You may also opt for a Coconut Coir Bed Rug, a natural, chemical-free option that allows air circulation under your mattress.

Can the bed be painted?

Yes, the bed can be painted after a light sanding, despite the linseed oil finish.

Worth the wait!

Beautiful design, and the beech wood is really solid. The drawers are a lifesaver for storage. Delivery took a little longer than expected, but the bed was worth the wait.

Solid bed with great storage, but delivery hiccup

I purchased the Captain’s Bed with Double Layer Drawers in twin size, and overall, I’m really happy with it. The bed is made of solid beech wood, which feels sturdy and high quality. The natural finish is beautiful, and it fits perfectly with my room’s decor. The best part is definitely the storage—having two layers of drawers on each side is a game changer. The drawers glide smoothly and provide a lot of extra space for clothes, bedding, and other items, which is ideal if you’re trying to save space in a smaller room. However, I did experience a small issue with the delivery. The original delivery date was delayed by a few days due to a mix-up with the warehouse, which was a bit frustrating since I had already cleared my schedule. The team at Comfort Pure was responsive when I reached out, and they were able to reschedule quickly. When the bed finally arrived, the delivery team was professional and careful while bringing everything in and setting it up. So while the delay was inconvenient, the customer service and delivery crew did a good job in the end. In terms of the bed itself, I’m very satisfied—it’s sturdy, eco-friendly, and exactly what I was looking for in terms of both design and functionality. Just be mindful that deliveries might take a little longer than expected, but it’s worth the wait.

Captains bed for our teen boy

The bed came mostly assembled. The construction is solid wood which isn’t easy to find online. He loves all the storage he gets underneath for the same space as his old bed. Works great for a small room.

Ideal for guest rooms

Perfect for our guest room! The wood is high quality, and the drawers provide a ton of storage. It’s eco-friendly and solid, which is important to me. Overall, a great buy, and the delivery team was excellent.
